Coaching Courses

Unlocking the Potential’ Coach Education Programme

Introduction to Coaching Gaelic Games

This course is an introductory coaching programme for all Gaelic Games Family. Coaches will gain some insights into the theoretical underpinnings of successful coaching such as importance of creating a positive environment for our players, movement quality, skill development, games as well as preparation and planning. It  is a fun, dynamic and informative course designed by coaches for coaches.

Raising the Bar – Level 1 Coaching Programme

The next step on our coaching ladder is our Level 1 course.  This course is developed to challenge existing coaches to look more in depth at coaching principles and practices.

Coaches will apply information to solve coaching scenarios in practical situations. Coaches must have completed the ‘Introduction to Gaelic Games’ course prior to undertaking the Level 1 course, have a minimum of one year’s coaching experience to participate on this and be 18 years of age or older.

Level 2 Coaching Programme

The Level 2 coaching programme brings the focus back onto the sport itself and helping to equip coaches with the tools to allow them to develop the game of Ladies Gaelic football. The programme specifically focuses on helping coaches to identify patterns of play and gives coaches an understanding as to what is required by the players prior to adopting these new tactics. The course also helps coaches to identify the skills and qualities required by each individual player to institute the new plays and how best to identify the players most suitable to fulfil the required roles. It also enables courses to tailor the training specific to the needs of their teams.

The Level 2 programme will not only help coaches see how patterns of play are selected, but also the requirements of identifying the skills needed for those patterns and how best to coach them to fulfil these roles. It is an extremely practical course.
