Club History:
Dromin Athlacca Banogue is a merger of 2 juvenile clubs from the neighbouring parishes of Dromin Athlacca and Banogue. Formally known as Shamrock Gaels when formed in 2006. Prior to this amalgamation the kids from Banogue played hurling with Dromin Athlacca and the kids from Dromin Athlacca played their football with Banogue.
Ladies Football was introduced into the community in 2007 and since then has become a huge success for the girls in the community and surrounding communities with many girls getting huge benefit from playing football and becoming a huge part of team sports. Since 2007 there have been many accolades amongst all age groups in league finals and county finals in several grades. No shortage of medals and celebrations. The club has had many girls come through and be represented at intercounty level in various ages opening the gateway for the girls to follow their interests and sporting pursuits.
The club is now extremely fortunate to have two state of the art field and club house facilities in Banogue and Athlacca available for use amongst all age groups.
Appreciation and gratitude is extended to our long line of volunteers, committee members, mentors, coaches and players for their endless hours committed to the running of the club year on year. It takes an entire community to “pull together” for the continued success of any committee/club making our/your community as always somewhere to be proud of.
Dromin Athlacca Banogue (DAB) is indebted to the voluntary help of Coaches / Managers / Parents / Players and Committee members for keeping such an important aspect of country community living on the go and we look forward to a long-lasting ladies football club for many years to come.
