Gerald Griffins Ladies Football Club is from the Parish of Loughill/Ballyhahill it was founded in the early 1980’s but it was not until the early 1990’s that it began to find winning ways. The U12 team brought the first County Title to the Parish in 1994 & it was these players that formed the basis of the team that went on to win the All Ireland Junior Title on the 26th November 2000 defeating Donaghmoyne of Monaghan. Our club to date has achieved a lot of underage success but the adult team had not won a County Title until the famous 9am Junior Final V Groody Gaels on Sept 16th 2017. Our club has been well represented on several County Teams down through the years, helping Limerick bring home Munster & All Ireland Titles. Our club is also very lucky to have the only Limerick player to date to have received an All Star, Dymphna O Brien.
Our Club runs with a skeleton committee but only for these people’s commitment and hard work, we would struggle to field the teams which range from Junior down to our newly formed U8s & U10s Teams in 2020 which were such a huge success & we feel will be the stars of the future. In 2019 we also set up a G4M&Os Team & to say the least was a great success with the team taking part in several blitzes within Munster.
We would like to make a special mention to our main sponsor in recent years Enzo’s Cafe, Limerick for all he has provided us with & thanks to all our other sponsors for all their support in recent years which allowed us to run two very successful fundraisers, Strictly Come Dancing & most recently our Lip Sync Battle. We really appreciate their generosity.
Thanks also to our men’s club Gerald Griffins GAA for all their support & the use of the field etc they couldn’t be more helpful & accommodating to us. We couldn’t but mention our supporters who never fail to come out in numbers be it league or championship. Finally we have remember our players who go out to represent our club week in week out, without ye we wouldn’t have a club & not forgetting these girls parents who bring them to training & matches and encourage them to take part in this sport.
