Club History:

Oola Gaa Club was funded in 1887-88, it is a club richly steeped in football tradition. Ladies football has been a growing strength in Oola in the recent years.

Oola Ladies started as an amalgamation team made up of players from Oola, neighbouring Tipperary teams Solohead and Cappawhite known as “St Nicholas”. St Nicholas successfully captured the Limerick Junior Championship in 1992 but finished playing a few years later.

It was in 2002 when Oola Gaa invited ladies to the field and the Oola Ladies football club was established. Since then, dedicated club women have been successful both on and off the football field.

In 2016 our ladies completed the league and championship double and subsequently were promoted to Intermediate grade for 2017. Since then the ladies have almost had a county final in their grasp as they have reached the county semi-final stage for the last 3 years. In 2019, Oola were awarded Division 2 League Champions.

Many of the current intermediate ladies would have played a part in the success of 2016 Junior team alongside the women who had established the Ladies club in 2002. Those women continue to support Oola Ladies whether it is attending underage matches in the sun or supporting our Junior B and Intermediate Ladies in the wind and rain.

2020 was also the first year that Oola had the opportunity to field two adult teams which was hugely welcomed by the ladies already involved but it also saw new members joining the club. The summer of 2020 kept both the Junior B and Intermediate ladies on the field until the semi final stages. They are all looking forward to the year ahead, 2021.

2020 was quite a successful year for our Mothers & Others with 40 ladies of all football abilities registering with Oola GAA. The Ladies are very hopeful to host a super blitz in 2021 with all things going well.

The future is bright for Oola Ladies as the underage teams continue to be successful in their development as football players. Oola Ladies are grateful to have numerous role models who line out on the Limerick Ladies Intermediate Team as well as those who represent Oola on the Minor, U16 and U14 county panels.

Oola Ladies GAA are excited to see what 2021 will bring.
