Club History:

St Ailbe’s Ladies Gaelic Football Club was formed in 1995 but it was not until 2000 that the club saw winning ways. That year St. Ailbes won its first U12 ‘A’ County title and the club has not looked back since growing from strength to strength, winning County titles at every age level, which includes at A level 7 U12, 6 U14, 5 U16, 6 Minor. The club has also won numerous titles at B & C level over the years and have fielded two under 12, under 14 and two adult teams in recent times.

At Adult level the club won Junior County Championship 2005, Intermediate County Championship 2007, the All Round County League Division 1 in 2011, 2014, 2017 & 2018. St. Ailbes won our first Senior Championship title in 2011 and went on to win back-to-back championships in 2012.  In 2011 St. Ailbes reached the Munster Final at Intermediate Level but were beaten by Cork champions Bride Rovers. Our senior ladies again won back-to-back championships in 2019 and 2020.

St. Ailbes has also experienced success at Féile level, we won an All-Ireland Féile Division 2 title in Wicklow in 2006 and current senior player Paula Donnelly won the Féile Skills competition that year.  Further success was achieved during 2015 when in Carlow the club won the All Ireland Féile Division 5 title.

It was with great delight St. Ailbes formed an underage camogie club in 2016 with huge numbers attending training and won their first bit of silverware in 2019 at under 14 level. Following on in their footsteps St. Ailbes entered their first adult camogie team in 2019 and are going from strength to strength.

St. Ailbes down through the years have produced numerous county players at all age groups. They have contributed greatly to the success of Limerick Ladies Gaelic Football reaching underage finals, also Junior All-Ireland Finals. We had 5 girls who experienced All-Ireland success in 2010 winning the Junior All-Ireland Championship with Limerick and more recently we had 6 of our girls contributing to Limericks success in winning the 2018 Junior All-Ireland final.
